GOP women gather to hear about women's suffrage and the 19th Amendment

McMINNVILLE – The Yamhill County Republican Women's Group will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Izzy's Pizza.

City meetings moved to accommodate work on Public Safety Building

As their quarters are not available during the month of September due to seismic retrofits to the Public Safety Building, several Newberg committees and commissions will hold their meetings at other locations.

The planning commission will gather at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Austin Room at the public library, 503 E. Hancock St., while the Citizens Rate Review Committee will confab at 6:30 p.m. that night at the city's wastewater treatment plant, 2301 N.E. Wynooski Road.

The City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 16 at the library and the Traffic Safety Commission will hold its quarterly meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 14 at city hall, 414 E. First St.

History of Friendsview topic of talk at Newberg Area Historical Society

The next meeting of the Newberg Area Historical Society is set for 7 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E. Sheridan St.

The meeting will feature a report from Frank Engle on the history of Friendsview Retirement Community.

Dundee Women's Club sets slate for the fall

The Dundee Women's Club will host a program on environmental issues and Yamhill County at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the facility at 1026 S.W. Highway 99W.

Speaker will be Yamhill County Commissioner Casey Kulla.

The club, in conjunction with the local American Legion post, will host a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Oct. 27.

Leslie Lanzar of Western Oregon Recovery will speak on recycling at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 as well.

American Red Cross slates blood drive in Newberg

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday in the Newberg Public Safety Building, 401 E Third St.

A blood donor card, driver's license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in.

Individuals who are a minimum 17 years old (16 with parental consent), weight at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health are eligible to donate blood.

Planning commission meeting moved to library
