Bonamici to speak at next Newberg City Club luncheon forum
The next installment of the Newberg City Club luncheon forum will feature Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici. The event is set for noon to 1 p.m. Nov. 26 in the grand ballroom at the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E. Sheridan St.
The cost is $10 for Newberg City Club members, $15 for non-members. Those members interested in hearing the speaker only pay $3, while non-members must shell out $6. Reservations are requested by 10 p.m. Nov. 24 by calling Tina Enomoto at 503-538-1535.
Help the VFW erect flags on the streets of Newberg
Newberg VFW Post 4015 is seeking veteran volunteers to assist in its public flag display program along the streets of Newberg, undertaken 12 times a year on national holidays "commemorating important events in our nation's history," a press release said. The time committed to the program, the release said, is strictly on an on-call, as-needed and as-available basis. For more information, call Grover Jones at 503-680-0998.
History of Chamber of Commerce topic of next historical society meeting
Josh Duder of the Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce will speak at the 7 p.m. Nov. 26 meeting of the Newberg Area Historical Society at the Chehalem Cultural Center, 415 E. NCC slates Service of Remembrance on Dec. 8
Northwest Christian Church (formerly Newberg Christian Church) will host a Service of Remembrance at 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at 2315 Villa Road.
"Participants are invited to bring an ornament in honor of a friend or family member who has passed away," a release from the church said.
A short program, a time of remembering and refreshments is on tap as well.

Relay for Life will hold 'Give Cancer the Bird' run/walk on Nov. 28
McMINNVILLE -- Yamhill County Relay for Life will hold "Give Cancer the Bird," a 5K fun run/walk, at 8 a.m. Nov. 28 on the Evergreen Nature Trail on the campus of the Evergreen Aviation Museum. Registration, which begins at 7 a.m., is $25 and includes a t-shirt ($15 without the t-shirt), and is $5 for the dog walk portion of the event. To register, visit http://bit.ly/BirdWalk2019. Proceeds from the event will benefit the American Cancer Society.
