Buy some wine and support a worthy cause
The Yamhill-Carlton American Viticultural Area is getting an early start on the holiday season with the introduction of a collaborative program that will benefit a local nonprofit.
The YCAVA, primarily located just west of Newberg and Dundee, has created a mixed wine pack showcasing the best vintages in the region, all with the goal of benefiting Yamhill-Carlton Together Cares, a community organization serving local families and children.
And the help from the YCAVA comes at a critical time for the nonprofit as the pandemic is seriously hindering the organization's ability to hold fundraising events. The YCAVA's goal is to raise $5,000 for Together Cares over the next several months.
"This contribution will help fund programs developed by the nonprofit, providing local youth with useful community roles, safe and healthy activities and good role models," a news release from the YCAVA said.
Although the packs feature wines from Belle Pente, Big Table Farm, Elk Cove and Lemelson Vineyards, a total of 31 wineries from within and outside the YCAVA are participating in the effort.
The packs sell for $250, which includes shipping to any place in Oregon, and the bottles average about $50 each and will be available until sold out. The wine packs also are available for curbside pickup at Carlton Cellars.
Participating wineries include Angela Estate, Anne Amie Vineyards, Asilda Wines, Atticus Wines, Battle Creek Cellars, Beacon Hill Vineyard & Winery, Belle Pente Winery, Big Table Farm, Bud's Bloom, Carlton Cellars, Chris James Cellars, Denison Cellars, EIEIO, Elk Cove Vineyards, Et Fille Wines, Fairsing Vineyard, Gran Moraine, J.L. Kiff Vineyvard, Ken Wright Cellars, Landlines Estate, Laurel Ridge Winery, Lemelson Vineyards, Lenné Estate, Marshall Davis Wine, MoksGate Vineyard & Wines, Penner-Ash Wine Cellars, Pike Road Wines, Saffron Fields Vineyard, Shea Wine Cellars, Stag Hollow Wines and Willakenzie Estate.
