Cultural center launches online sales gallery
The Chehalem Cultural Center has taken to the internet to support artists in Yamhill County.
Dubbed the CCC Online Sales Gallery, it "has been established to help promote public awareness and sales of Yamhill County-based visual artists," according to a release from the organization.
The effort came about during the pandemic, which required that the CCC place formerly in-person exhibitions online instead. That, in turn, resulted in a "significant" increase in the sales of artworks.
The online displays fall into line with the CCC's core values, which find "that the presence of the arts in a community makes that community socially stronger and more economically viable," the release said.
The online site (www.chehalemculturalcenter.org/online-sales-gallery) is now featuring work by ceramic sculpturist Margaret Bailey, ceramicist Jennifer Joy Loop and painters Donna Sires, Kathleen Buck and Tricia Wente.
Exhibit organizers are aiming to show artists' work in a variety of mediums. To that end, applications to be a featured artist are open on a rolling basis, contracts last about six months and the exhibit will rotate on a regular basis.
