Buckaroos T.J. Crawford and Hayden Smith join junior forward on all-conference team

The St. Paul boys basketball team picked up three nominations in the 2019-2020 Casco League All-Conference awards – a final accolade in a season that included plenty of development and improvement for the young group of Buckaroos.PMG FILE PHOTO - Junior forward Broden Lear was recently named to the first team by the Casco League.

Led by junior forward Broden Lear, who earned first team honors, the Buckaroos (10-15, 9-5) finished the regular season tied for third place in the league standings along with Falls City (17-10, 9-5).

Lear was joined by senior teammates T.J. Crawford and Hayden Scott in the all-league honors. Crawford – the starting quarterback for the football team and a baseball player as well – earned a second team nomination, while Scott landed an honorable mention nod.

The Buckaroos ended their season with a second consecutive year in the league playoffs, falling 61-56 in overtime to the Livingstone Adventist Academy Lions (10-11, 6-8) in the first game of the conference tournament. The St. Paul girls team, meanwhile, made it all the way to the state championship game before falling to No. 1 seed Crane.
