St. Paul, C.S. Lewis Academy teams in action once again after long layoff due to pandemic

The Newberg and St. Paul area's 1A classified high schools returned to play in sports last week, taking on a shortened schedule in the handful of sports in which their schools are participating.

The C.S. Lewis Academy volleyball squad lost 3-0 on the road to Jewell in its first game March 4, following that up with a home game against Livingstone Adventist on Tuesday after The Graphic went to press. Next up for the Watchmen is a home game against Willamette Valley Christian scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday.

The perennial state champion St. Paul volleyball team opened up its season with a pair of resounding victories at home, besting Perrydale 3-0 on March 2 before a 3-0 win over Willamette Valley Christian on March 4. The Buckaroos played on the road at Crosshill Christian on Tuesday after The Graphic went to press, and they look ahead to a home matchup with state powerhouse Powder Valley on Friday in a non-league contest.

(Editor's note: Due to the pandemic media is restricted in what it can cover and information on contests is difficult to attain, as are photographs).
