Safe Kids Fair set for June 14

Juliette’s House and Newberg Noon Kiwanis will team up once again to present, rain or shine, the “Newberg Safe Kids Fair” from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 14 at the Chehalem Armory Center. Games, giveaways and information will be available, as well as low-cost food. Superheroes from the Portland Superheroes Coalition will be on hand, the Pedal Power Partnership will be raffling off free refurbished bicycles, free helmets will be given to the first 100 kids age 8 and under, and a backyard playhouse built by the Newberg Kiwanis Club will be raffled off. Hamilton named to Dean’s List at Mercer

Senior Laura Hamilton, of Newberg, was named to the dean’s list at Mercer University for the spring semester. Inclusion on this list requires students to meet rigorous grade-point-average standards specific to the college or school within the university.

CCC to host elementary art show

The Chehalem Cultural Center will host “The Mabel Rush Impressionism Exhibition,” an art show featuring student art work created through the Mabel Rush Elementary School Art Literacy program, June 6-16. This year, students have studied masters George Seurat, Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh and created pieces inspired by them. A reception will be held at 6 p.m. June 6. NHS plant sale continues

The 2014 Newberg High School greenhouse plant sale will conclude this weekend with sessions from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Plants are grown by NHS students in the greenhouse. Selections include 12-inch hanging baskets, vegetables, annuals, herbs, patio pots, perennials, sedums, native trees and shrubs.
