'If I Were Mayor' contest returns

Newberg Mayor Bob Andrews and the Oregon Mayors Association are inviting students to enter the "If I Were Mayor" contest and share their creative ideas for what they would do to lead Newberg. Students in grades 4 and 5 will submit a poster demonstrating their idea. The essay portion of the contest is open to students in grades 6-8, who must submit a piece between 500 and 1,000 words. High school students will create a one- to three-minute digital media presentation. Homeschool students at the corresponding grade levels are eligible to participate. Local winners will be entered into the state contest and become eligible to win an iPad Air 2. First-place statewide winners will receive their prizes during the OMA Summer Conference, to be held July 26-28 in Florence.
