The COVID-19 Nonprofit Support Grant offers one-time assistance of up to $3,000

Nonprofits hard hit by the pandemic may get some help from an unlikely source: a local savings and loan.

First Federal announced April 22 that it has launched the COVID-19 Nonprofit Support Grant, designed to aid nonprofit entities in the organization's Yamhill County service area.

"First Federal is and always will be committed to supporting our local community organizations," Jim Schlotfeldt, First Federal president and CEO, said in a release. "While we do not know the full effects of COVID-19, we can be certain that the effects will be significant, particularly for the most vulnerable in our community."

The nuts and bolts of the grants are fairly simple: A short application is required and First Federal will offer one-time assistance of up to $3,000 to organizations in need of programming funds or who have had to cancel critical fundraising events and services.

Organizations that provide services to children, fight food insecurity and provide emergency relief, crisis intervention and health care services will be given priority for the grants, the release said.

Applications will be reviewed and approved in the order they are received and the program will continue until the funds are exhausted. For more information or to apply, visit
