Coral Eilene Owens

Former Gresham resident Coral Eilene Owens died Sunday, Sept. 15. She was 83.

A private graveside service will be held.

Coral was born Oct. 28, 1929, in Oakland, Calif., to Paul and Mary (Wilson) Tiffany. She moved to Portland as a child and graduated from Commerce (now Cleveland) High School.

On March 17, 1951, Coral married Malcolm Owens. The couple raised five daughters.

Coral devoted much of herself to several causes and fraternal organizations, including Job’s Daughters International, The Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Order of the Amaranth and White Shrine of Jerusalem.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include her daughters, Margie Schaefer, Janelle Franklin, Kimberlie Dowsett, Lorilyn Neely and Penny Wright; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Gresham Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

James (Jayme) Lee Rose

Jan. 29, 1976-Sept. 2, 2013

Former Gresham resident James (Jayme) Lee Rose died from a blood clot Monday, Sept. 2, at East Texas Medical Center. He was 37.

A memorial service was held Monday, Sept. 16, at Grace Bible Fellowship Church.

Jayme was born Jan. 19, 1976, in Portland. He grew up in Gresham, attending Sam Barlow High School and Mt. Hood Community College.

Jayme loved to sing, play guitar and create music. He belonged to Mt. Hood Christian Center and Portland Christian Center.

Jayme leaves behind numerous family members who will miss his bright smile, easy laugh and joy of life.

Jayme is survived by his daughter, Ella Wenger; mother, Cindy Kuykendall; father, Philip M. Rose Sr.; brother, Philip M. Rose Jr. ; sister, Krister J. (Rose) Yarbourough; grandmother, Delores Rosenboom; and grandfather and step-grandmother, the Rev. Bob and Shirley Rose.

Karen Mansbridge

July 18, 1939-Sept. 15, 2013

Gresham resident Karen Mansbridge died Sunday, Sept. 15. She was 74.

A gathering to celebrate Karen’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at 2772 S.E. Hale Way in Gresham.

Karen was born July 18, 1939, in Fremont, Neb., to Marvin and Darlene (Warner) Christensen.

Karen was a graduate of Grant High School. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and computer gaming. Karen loved her cats, monthly ladies lunch meetings and being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Tami Anne (Wesley) Gustaveson; sons, Timothy (Tami Marie) Satre and John (Laura) Varner; sister, Deon Mill; and eight grandchildren.

Kathryn Marie Takalo

June 4, 1933-Aug. 12, 2013

Gresham resident Kathryn Marie Takalo died Monday, Aug. 12. She was 80.

A private memorial will be held Sunday, Sept. 15.

Kathryn was born June 4, 1933, in Spring Valley, Wis., to Fred and Hilda Albrecht. She graduated in 1950 from Naselle High School.

Kathryn married Stan Takalo in 1950 in Naselle. The couple divorced in 1998.

The “go-to” girl for home plumbing and electrical parts, Kathryn worked in retail services for hardware stores, retiring in 2002. She attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Portland through 1978, was an avid quilter and bowler and participated in church and senior choirs.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Albrecht. She is survived by her sons, Gene and Kevin Takalo; daughter, Theresa Wells; brothers, John, Fred and Francis Albrecht; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Kelly M. Mingus

Nov. 23, 1960-Sept.15, 2013

East County resident Kelly Mingus died Sunday, Sept. 15, in Brightwood. She was 52.

Kelly was born Nov. 23, 1960, in Fairbanks, Alaska, to Dallas E. Sears and Florence M. (Jones) Lintner. She attended Sandy High School.

Kelly considered her greatest achievements her children, Justin and Dakota, whom she loved with all of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dallas.

Kelly is survived by her sons, Justin (Emily) Sears and Dakota (Destiny) Mingus; grandchildren, Dustin and Zoe; mother, Florence Lintner; and siblings, Nancy Sears, Dallas Sears and Lori Brown.

Evelyn Metzger

March 3, 1928-Sept. 18, 2013

Portland resident Evelyn Metzger died Wednesday, Sept. 18. She was 85.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at Holman, Hankins, Bowker and Wand Funeral Home, 715 Seventh St. in Oregon City.

She was the wife of Dean Metzger, a longtime Gresham resident.

D. Lee Kirby

Dec. 14, 1939-Sept. 11, 2013

East County resident D. Lee Kirby died Wednesday, Sept. 11. He was 73.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, at the East County Alano Club, in Gresham.

Lee was born Dec. 14, 1939, in North Carolina. After moving to Oregon 50 years ago, he owned and operated Lee Kirby Realty.

Lee was a beloved father, mentor and friend.

He is survived by his son, Kenneth Lee Kirby; daughter-in-law, Lynette Kirby; and grandchildren, Brandon, Chance and Sinclaire.
