Gordon was born to the late William and Tina Jantz on December 26, 1936 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At a young age, his family emigrated from Canada and relocated to the United States in Southern California for a short time before settling in Oregon. Gordon graduated from Gresham High School, earned a Business Degree from Portland State University and obtained his US citizenship and naturalization in 1958. Gordon began his career with the City of Portland in 1960 where he worked as a firefighter until his retirement in 1990. He also worked diligently for more than 45 years as a compassionate landlord, as a generous church contributor and a faithful member.

Gordon was creative, meticulous and appreciated art, architecture and design. He loved to travel, most especially taking cruises with his family. Some of his favorite places were Hawaii, Mexico and Palm Desert. Gordon also enjoyed going to classic car shows and listening to live music. His wit, quirky sense of humor and delightful hospitality engaged those who surrounded him. Gordy's fun-loving, warm-hearted, infectious laughter will be deeply missed; he was loved by all who really knew him.

Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Carrie. Brother, Ronald Jantz (Rendy) daughters; Joni Pephyrs (Jim), Susan Vaughn (John), Juliann Williams (Brad) and son Jason Jantz. Grandchildren; Jesse, Stephanie, Stella and Jack and three great-grandchildren. He also is survived by a step-daughter Lauri Bachicha (Mike), and stepsons Richard Stenhouse (Patty) and Ryan Stenhouse (Katie) as well as three step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. In honor of Gordon's wishes there will be no service. A private gathering in his remembrance will be held at a later date.
