Ruth M. Sherman passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her family, at the age of 92 following a short illness.

Ruth was born in Toledo, Ohio to Roy and Jane Murphey. They moved to White Plains, New York when Ruth was 16 years old. Ruth graduated from Bradford Jr. College in 1945 and the Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in 1946. On October 3, 1953 she married John H. Sherman of Gross Pointe, Michigan. Together they moved and built a home in Sandy Springs, Georgia and raised three children. In 1994, a couple of years after her husband passed away, Ruth moved and had a home built in the Highlands Community in Portland, Oregon to be near her daughter and two grandsons.

Ruth was dedicated to her family and shared a close group of friends going back many years. She made many new friends in Oregon, loved going to the coast, gardening, sharing her flowers and feeding the many birds she attracted in her backyard. Ruth was an active volunteer at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia and at Legacy Meridian Park Hospital in Portland, Oregon for more than 30 years combined. She will always be remembered for her strength, generosity, kindness and grace.

Ruth is survived by her son Jim A. Sherman and his son Aaron J. Sherman, daughter Linda S. Turzillo and her sons, Alex M. Turzillo and Jack C. Turzillo.

To honor her life a memorial celebration will be held at the Highlands Clubhouse on March 28, 2018. A burial service will be held in June 2018 at Arlington Memorial Cemetery in Sandy Springs, Georgia where she will be laid to rest with her husband, John H. "Jack" Sherman and son, John R. Sherman.

God bless you Mom, your love stays in our hearts and our spirit is held within the hearts of so many. Time will pass, but our love for you will always remain the same.
