Irene Churchill Farmer
Irene Churchill Farmer died peacefully at her home in Battle Ground, Washington on June 27, 2019 with her family at her side. She was born in Canemah, Oregon on October 8, 1926 to Delmer M and Martha Johnson Churchill.
The family lived in several towns in Oregon, eventually settling in Shelburn, Oregon, where Irene graduated from high school and went on to attend college. Irene married Stanley Eugene Farmer in Stayton, Oregon on July 19, 1947. The couple moved to Portland and later Gresham, where they raised four children. When her last child was in his teens, Irene returned to college to receive her registered nurse training from Mt Hood Community College and her bachelor's degree from the University of Portland. Much of Irene's nursing career was spent as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Irene enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing clothes and quilting, gardening, and genealogy. She was a talented oil painter. Irene is survived by her daughters Susan Denney and Sharon Farmer (Phillip Osborne) and her son Daniel Farmer; her daughter-in-law Barbara Farmer; her seven grandchildren Cliff Denney, Colin Denney (Ginger Denney), Beth Osborne (Rusty Sticha), Drew Osborne, Danielle Farmer, Quinten Farmer (Libby Brittain), and Caleb Farmer; and her three great grandchildren Lily and Maddey Denney
and Owen Sticha. She is also survived by her sister Charlene Bankston and several nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, her son Gerald Farmer, and her grandson Christian Farmer.
At her request, there will be no public service. Donations in her memory can be made to the North County Community Food Bank, PO Box 2106, Battle Ground, WA 98604. The family requests no cards or flowers.
