Margaret Elaine Weber Winters
She was the daughter of George and Estel Weber of Caldwell, Idaho. Margaret attended school at Greenleaf Grade School and Greenleaf Academy, where she began lifelong friendships that continued throughout the years.
Margaret met Norman Winters while attending Greenleaf Academy and they married on August 16, 1954. She graduated from George Fox College (University) in Newberg, Oregon, in 1953. She began her teaching experience in Drain, Oregon. During the first year of marriage, Margaret continued her teaching career in Gooding, Idaho. When Margaret and Norman moved to Eugene, Oregon, she continued teaching in Springfield, Oregon for five years. While there, she became a member of Eugene Friends Church and helped in the early years to grow the church. In 1963 they moved to Boise, Idaho where Margaret was involved in many civic and church activities. Margaret continued her journey in faith when she became an active member of Boise Friends Church and later, Melba Friends Church. Margaret's volunteerism lasted 21 years as she assisted in many capacities to build strong communities and Churches wherever she lived.
In 1990, Norman and Margaret moved to Kamiah, Idaho, where they enjoyed six years and fellowshipped at Woodland Friends Church. During that time Margaret volunteered with the American Cancer Society and Special Olympics Idaho.
In 1996, Norman and Margaret moved to Redmond, Oregon, where they became involved with Metolius Friends Church and VOW (Volunteers on Wheels). They enjoyed traveling around the USA, Europe, and spending time with family and grandchildren.
They last moved in 2003 to the Friendsview Retirement Community, in Newberg, Oregon. Margaret was actively involved in Newberg Friends Church and volunteerism, and was bestowed the Oregon Volunteer of the Year award in 2010. Margaret was always involved in garden clubs throughout her lifetime and maintained a beautiful garden in Newberg. She was a friend to many people and regularly gave of her time and finances to help those in need. She also enjoyed being a Foster Friend to George Fox University Women's basketball team and in addition, worked with the University's Auxiliary. Margaret was also involved with Women's Missionary Union, Northwest Yearly Meeting.
Margaret trusted and followed the Lord leaving a wonderful heritage and legacy. She is survived by her loving husband Norman as well as her sister Jane and husband Bob Willcuts of Caldwell, Idaho. She left behind three daughters: Chris Watkins of Nampa, Idaho; Karen and Jeff Williams, Sisters, Oregon; and Kathy Winters in Washington, DC.
Margaret was preceded in death by her brother Jerry Weber, and her parents Estel Weber and George Weber.
There will be a private burial held at Newberg Friends Cemetery. Memorial will be August 3rd, 2019, 10 a.m. Newberg Friends Church, Newberg, Oregon.
