Lyle was born in Mayville, ND and spend his early years in Galesburg. His family moved to Fargo where they lived for two years before moving to a farm near Hawley MN. Lyle graduated from Hawley High School in 1964. In the fall, Lyle enrolled in Mayville State College where he met his future wife. Lyle and Ruth Ann were married in 1967. In 1968, Lyle graduated from MSC with a BS Degree in Education.

Lyle's first year teaching was in Hope, ND where he taught math and coached football. He later accepted a position at the Bertha-Hewitt High School in Bertha, MN, teaching math and coaching wrestling for nine years. Here, he also took on the job of Athletic Director, scheduling the athletic events for the junior and senior high. Lyle was always willing to help out wherever he could. He became involved in the community activities as volunteer fireman, ambulance EMT and later as Fire Chief.

Lyle moved his family to Beaverton, Oregon in 1979. Lyle and his family began attending Southwest Hills Baptist Church where they began a true relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ and began serving Him in their life's work. In 1981, he began doing the job he loved in the mobility medical field. He began servicing and selling electric wheelchairs and installing vehicle lifts for transport for his customers. Lyle moved his family and business to the Sherwood area in 1991 where he resided until the Lord called him home. He had so many loyal customers over the years who became his friends. Lyle worked right up until he was no longer able, he retired on May 31, 2019. For the last 13 years, Lyle was very active in the Lower Columbia Walleye Club where he met wonderful friends that he developed a close friendship with. Fishing with friends on the Columbia River was something he thoroughly enjoyed.

Lyle is survived by his wife Ruth Ann; son, Mike (Amber) Amundson of Clifford, ND; daughter, Shelly (Amundson) (Michael) Rath of Sherwood, OR; grandchildren, Patrick and Sabrina Amundson, McKayla (Rath) (Michael) Higgins, Brandon and Brett Rath; and great-granddaughter Sharron Joy Higgins; brother, Ron and Gary Amundson.

Lyle will be missed by all his family, loving friends and loyal customers.
