Dr. Albert F. Zieg was born and raised in Portland, Ore. and graduated from Grant H.S. in 1942. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp pilot training program during WWII and was discharged in November, 1945. In 1950 Al married Eleanor "Nori" Bietschek and received his Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University in 1955. After settling in Canby, he continued to practice Optometry until retiring in 1990.
Al and Nori travelled extensively to various foreign countries and around the US, and especially loved their condo in Hawaii. Their happiest times were with family, camping, snow skiing, boating and water skiing. Al also loved golf and woodworking, making many fine pieces of furniture and undertaking all the finish work in their last two homes. Al was very active in the community, giving time to church, service organizations and local government.

He is survived by wife Nori; sons, Dr. John Zieg (Brigitte), Dan Zieg; daughter Kathleen Robinson (Edward); as well as four beloved grandchildren, Alia Zieg Link, Connor Zieg, Imani and Tavi Robinson.
