After a very short battle with acute leukemia at the age of 95, Al passed peacefully in the night at his home in Corbett, Oregon.

Al was born in Milton, Oregon to William Curl and Elizabeth Collins. Al was one of 12 siblings. Two of his sisters Louise and Annie are still alive and live in the Portland area. In 1947 he married Margaret Krause. They had three children, Judy, Bill and Carol and divorced in 1957. In 1958 Al married Constance Mcnott. They had one daughter Mary. Al's wife Connie died in 2003.

Surviving him are his 2 sisters, 4 children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. 4 grandkids, Billy, Kenny and Jo Mackay are from the Corbett area and granddaughter Shelly lives in Gresham.

Al always had something witty to say and he loved to laugh at his own jokes. At 95 years old he cared for his 12 acre farm in Corbett.

At age 17 he was drafted into the Army to serve in WWII. On June 6,1944 Company146 was shipped by infantry boats to the coast of France to be let off on Omaha Beach to fight the Germans. Over 75% of Company 146 were killed that day. Al survived by jumping off the side of the boat instead of going out the ramp of the boat as his buddies did where they were gunned down with machine guns. Carrying 80# of gear and unable to swim, somehow he made it to safety.

Al retired after 22 years as Maintenance Engineer for Providence Hospital in Portland, Oregon. After retirement he traveled to Alaska several times, China, Australia, Mexico, and Costa Rica. Al will be missed by many including all his friends at the Corbett Market where he would have coffee early every morning.

A Memorial service will be held Saturday September 7th at 10:30am at Corbett Community Church, 34309 NE Mershon Rd. Corbett, Ore 97019.

Thank you for enriching our lives Albert Curl.

Life won't be the same without you!
