December 23, 1928 to September 3, 2019 JoAnne (Christensen) Walters, 90, peacefully went to be with the Lord

JoAnne (Christensen) Walters, 90, peacefully went to be with the Lord September 3, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born December 23, 1928 to William and Edith Christensen of Toledo, Oregon, eldest of five. Jo moved from the Oregon coast to California attending Biola University, earning a B.A. in Christian Education. While there, she met Ray C. Walters, the couple wed June 16, 1953.

The couple lived at Adelaide Christian Home for Children as house parents before purchasing their first home in Cypress. Jo was a devout woman of God, volunteering at church and Verdugo Pines Bible Camp.

After their children were grown, Jo taught Kindergarten at Anaheim Discovery Christian School. Upon retirement in 1992, the couple moved to the Willamette Valley. Keeping active with sewing, crafting, swimming, and traveling in their RV, Jo loved spending time with friends and family and dedicated her life to teaching children.

She is survived by her husband Ray Walters, daughter Karen (Scott) Inman, son Kevin (Becky) Walters; sisters Katherine Allen, Christa Bushousen, Marcy Christensen; brother William (Cindy) Christensen; granddaughters Katrina (Kyle) Greer, Rochelle (Willie) Whitley, Mya Walters; grandson Jonathan Inman; and great-grandson Trenton Greer. She is preceded in death by brothers, Robert Christensen, Don Allen, Doug Bushousen; and great-granddaughter, Marissa Greer.

A memorial will be held Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2:30 PM at the Hope Village Community Center in Canby. Jo's life is honored at Willamette National Cemetery. Should friends desire, remembrances may be made in her name to Canby Community Preschool, P.O. Box 1132 97013.
