Wm. Michael Kennedy
WM. Michael Kennedy April 21, 1946 - September 16, 2019
Wm. Michael Kennedy came into the world on April 21, 1946. He was a deep, loving, complicated man who battled through a tough childhood and many moves. He loved sports and was good at them, but always on the move meant no town long enough to play in team sports. After he graduated from Frankfort High School in Indiana, he was drafted into the US Army and served his country well in the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division in Vietnam.
After his honorable discharge from the military, Mike moved to Oregon and was in the dry-cleaning business. He owned a business in Tigard for many years and later worked for Mt. Hood Cleaners in Sandy. In 1983 he married Julie Anderson and moved to Juneau, Alaska where he owned Capital City Cleaners. Though the marriage ended, the two remained close. Mike returned to Oregon and again worked for Mt. Hood Cleaners until his retirement.
His experiences in Vietnam deeply affected his life and despite it all he found a pathway through to maintain life-long friendships and make new ones along the way. Mike passed peacefully on September 16, 2019.
Mike is survived by this brother Kevin of Portland, best friend Jim Ayers of Alaska, and lifetime friends CJ Ayers of Hawaii, and Cathryn Sause of Portland. Together with his beloved pug Sonja, Mike was honored by those closest to him in a private moment on the Sandy River while the melancholy bugle call of Taps was heard throughout the valley.
He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him along with the hummingbirds he nurtured and cared for.
