Karen Sue Hurtig Wright
August 13, 1964 – September 24, 2019
Karen was a bright and beautiful star that faded far too soon.
Born in Woodland Hills, CA to Gunnar Hurtig and Lois (Critoph) Williams, Karen spent her childhood in Oregon and Washington. She attended Barlow HighSchool, Mt. Hood and Clark Community Colleges.
In addition to Karen's sharp wit and "dark" sense of humor, Karen was a lifelong lover of all animals. Whether she was raising rabbits for 4H, rescuing strays, adopting shelter animals, or taking in foster pets, Karen was always surrounded by animals to care for. Karen's love for animals was reflected in her philosophy for life – "In all you do, be kind".
Karen is survived by her husband, Richard Kresal; mother, Lois; son, John "Max" Maxham; brother, Dana (Jan); sister, Kelli (Matthew); niece, Kayleejo; nephew, Parker; stepsisters, Kameo and Joset; stepnieces, Cierra and Dene; Jaylynn, who brought so much joy to "Gramma Karen"; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her father and infant brother.
Karen's life will be celebrated on Saturday, October 12th at 4:00pm, at Gresham United Methodist Church, 620 NW 8th St., Gresham, OR 97030. Reception following.
Gifts in Karen's memory may be made to Oregon Humane Society, 1067 NE Columbia Blvd., Portland, OR 97211.
