Lawrence (Larry) Carl Beyer passed away at his home in Monitor, Oregon on August 30, 2019 at the age of 87. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife Eunice of 63 years. They were married in Mount Angel, Oregon on October 8, 1955.
Lawrence is lovingly remembered by his six children: Dennis (Lisia), Donald (Kim), Carol Olson (Jess), Gerald (Melissa), Arthur, and Sandra; his eight grandchildren Megan (Tyler), Rebecca (Andrew), Chris, Natalie, Jenna, Adam, Gabriel, and Kelby; his sister Marilyn Kintz, and his brother Robert.
Lawrence is predeceased by his parents Matthias and Ottilia Beyer of Mount Angel; his brothers Francis, Vincent, and Neil; and his sisters Lois Schaefer and JoAnn Beyer.
Lawrence was born in Mount Angel, Oregon, in 1932. He graduated from Mount Angel Prep School in 1950. In 1953, Lawrence joined the Army and served for two years, mostly as an MP at Camp Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1955, Lawrence married Eunice Geck and moved to a farm east of Monitor, Oregon, where he raised his six children. Lawrence was a logger, farmer, and woodturner. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary Parish in Mount Angel and a member of the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and woodturning. After his retirement, Lawrence became an avid woodturner, and spent much of his time creating bowls, tables, and clocks turned from his collection of wood burls and logs collected over the years.
Recitation of the rosary and mass of Christian burial has been held at St. Mary's Catholic Church - Mt. Angel. Interment was held at Calvary Cemetery - Mt. Angel.
