January 4, 1919 - November 1, 2019,
Emiko Namba Kikkawa passed away peacefully on November 1, 2019. Born in Portland, Oregon to Etsuo and Shizuno Namba.
Emiko's childhood years were spent on the family farm in Fairview, Oregon. She attended Fairview Grade School and graduated from Gresham Union High School.
Emiko and Kazuo Kikkawa were married in 1938 and continued to farm. During World War Two they were interned in Minidoka, Idaho. Following the war they returned to Fairview and lived there productively until their retirement in 1987.
Emiko is survived by four daughters; Joyce Kikkawa, Gail Kyono, Marcia Stong, and Elaine DuBois, three grandsons, Evan and Eric Kyono, and J. Blake Showalter, and four great grandchildren.
Her Grandsons have fond memories of playing in the
strawberry fields, of how Grandmother Emiko would buy ice cream and popsicles for them at the store next door, and how she would monitor their driving toy
trucks through her flower garden. Such great memories are part of a strong and loving family in which Grandma played such a large part in shaping. She was loved and will be missed by all.
Those wishing to leave a remembrance for Emiko may donate to Ikoi-no-Kai, located at 1333 SE 28th Avenue, Portland, Oregon 97214.
