of Newberg, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at the age of 87. Betty was born to parents Edgar and Mary Worthy on March 28, 1932, in Kennewick, Washington.

Betty Jean Benson Betty worked as an Escrow Officer for many years and was instrumental in opening the Columbia County Title Office in St. Helens, Oregon. When the Bensons moved to Newberg, Oregon, Betty was the Escrow Officer for First American Title Insurance Company until she retired.

During Betty's professional career, she was a member of the American Business Women's Association (ABWA). ABWA brings together businesswomen of diverse occupations and provides them opportunities to grow professionally through leadership, education and networking support. Over the years she was the recipient of numerous awards for her work in the title insurance business.

Betty was a wonderful woman who was loved and will always be cherished. She was an amazing wife, mom, and daughter. She was known for her kind and compassionate spirit by everyone she knew. In her spare time, she was an avid bowler and was on the St. Helens Bowling League for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Douglas Benson, her parents Edgar and Mary Worthy, and sister LeVera Madeline Reck. She is survived by her daughters Kathy Sexton, Margret Bluhm, Pamela Munster, Joyce Benson, Carmela Carrick, and son Kevin Nelson, along with nineteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several loving relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (DRI).
