Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 15th, at 1:00 pm at Hillside Chapel, 1306 Seventh Street, Oregon City, 97045. There will also be a memorial luncheon on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 1:00 pm hosted by the Redland Grange, 18131 S Fischers Mill Rd, Oregon City, 97045.

Trudy was born on January 17th, 1928, the third of five children born to Swiss immigrants Paul and Rosa (Baumann) Lutz. She was raised in rural Oregon City, OR on their family-owned Redland Dairy Farm. She learned English as her second language when she began attending school. Trudy graduated from Oregon City High School in 1946. Shortly after graduation, she began her career at Montgomery Ward in Portland, OR, where she remained for 36 years until the iconic store closed 1982. Trudy made many friends at Ward's over the years and considered them an extended family.

In 1961, Trudy met her husband, Max J., on a blind date. They fell in love immediately and married three months later. The couple moved to St. John's in North Portland, where they raised three children together, Earl, Maxine and Lloyd. Trudy was also a caring stepmother to Max's older son Danny, who came to live with them. She was a loving wife for 21 years until Max's death in 1982. A few years later, Trudy devoted herself to taking care of her mother, Rosa.

Trudy was beloved by her children, who were always her first priority, and dearly loved by their friends. She was good-natured and kind to everyone. She was very proud of her Swiss heritage, loved to dance and yodel, and always sang off-key. Trudy treated everyone with respect and was always eager to help someone in need.

Trudy enjoyed being a member of the Vancouver Elks Emblem Club, and an active member with the Portland Swiss Club, with whom she and traveled extensively to gatherings across the West. Trudy was most proud of being an active Redland Grange member for over 75 years. Trudy spent her later years doting on her grandchildren, leaving them with many wonderful memories.

Trudy is survived by her sister Betty Alford and brother Lester Lutz (Gladys); children Earl Lachnite, Maxine Pelker, and Lloyd Lachnite (Jen); stepson Danny Miller (Jackie); grandchildren Paige Pelker, Morgan Pelker, Rex Pelker, Logan Lachnite, Maxx Lachnite, Jackson Lachnite, Liam Lachnite, and Michelle Miller-Lopez (Carlos); great-granddaughter Ruby Lopez, and many nieces and nephews.
