Donald Bernerd Sasse
Don was born in Newberg, Oregon and graduated from Newberg High School in 1963. In 1967, Don married Linda Annas and they were married until her death in 2006. He retired from Tektronix as the Director of Environmental Health and Safety. He served the Sherwood community as a city councilman, soccer coach and referee. Don met and married Susie in 2009 and they lived in Newberg with their dogs, Barney, Bridgette, and Bosley.
A family man with many hobbies, Don enjoyed camping at Timothy Lake and fishing in Tillamook Bay. One of his proudest moments as a fisherman was October 19, 1989 at Ghost Hole at Tillamook Bay when he caught a 51-pound Chinook Salmon. Don also loved cars and owned 58 different cars over his lifetime, a 1928 Model A and Corvettes were among his favorites.
Don is survived by his wife, Susie, his children Troy Sasse and Tammy (Darin) Johnson, his stepchildren Jessica (Pierre-Alain) Chevalier, James (Rachelle) Polits, and Jeffrey (Meghan) Polits, his grandchildren Lillie and Darin Jr. Johnson, Sophia, Asher, and Finley Polits, and his sister Armania Brush along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Don's love of dogs, memorial donations can be made to the Newberg Animal Shelter or to his church home, Zion Lutheran in Newberg. His memorial service will be held Saturday, January 11th, 2020 at 2pm at Zion Lutheran Church.
