Janet Rae Crace, of Troutdale, passed away in her home on January 12. She was 67 years old.

Janet was born December 12, 1952 in El Dorado Kansas to Duane and Myrna Jean (Holmberg) Duncan. She was the youngest of three children and adored her older brothers, Kent and Randy. She had fond memories of growing up in El Dorado and would recall spending hours at the local pool and spending time with her dad in his shop. She left Kansas in her early 20s and moved to Oregon. There she met her late husband, David Crace, and had two children. Jan loved being a mom and was incredibly supportive of her kids and their interests. She enjoyed playing slow pitch softball, spending time at the coast, and going on quick trips with her sisterin-law. Jan was also an animal lover, and although she would say "no more," animals always found a place in her home.

Jan worked in records at the Gresham Police Department for 30 years. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering her time at the local animal shelter, reading to young children through the SMART program, and helping others as a hospital greeter.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Brianna Crace, of Gladstone Oregon; her son, Brian Crace, of Troutdale Oregon; her grandchildren, Lucia and Matteo Carboni; and other living relatives and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; her parents; and her two older brothers.

Our mom was fierce yet friendly and could talk to anyone. She was also adventurous, loving, witty and was known for her great comebacks. She was strong and she was brave and she will be missed terribly.

A service of remembrance will be held, 11:00 am, Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Bateman Carroll Funeral Home, 520 W. Powell Blvd, Gresham.
