Lucille Amanda Bechtoldt
Lucille Amanda Bechtoldt passed comfortably in her sleep on August 19th, at the age of 93, completing her time on this earth, and now joins her beloved husband, Raymond, on her next journey.
Lucille was born on October 13, 1926 in Belleville, Illinois
to her parents, Nicholas and Lydia Gansmann. She met
her future husband, Raymond Bechtoldt, just prior to World War II. During the war Lucille and her parents relocated to Portland, OR to take advantage of the shipyard work that was taking place there.
Towards the end of the war, Lucille and her
parents moved back to Belleville, where Lucille and
Ray reconnected when the war ended, culminating
in their marriage in 1946. Ray and Lucille, along
with her parents, then relocated to Oregon for good.
In the early '50s they purchased property on
Powell Blvd. in Gresham, OR which, at that time, was
just a small farming community of approximately
2,000 people. They commenced to raise crops;
in particular, strawberries and raspberries, and
in time, established a farm fruit stand business,
Bechtoldt's Berry Farm, which eventually became
a local landmark.
Lucille is survived by her two sons, Gary (Leah)
and Mark (Alice), her five grandchildren, Tabatha,
Tanya, Tina, Nick and Daniel, and her great
grandsons, Lance, Izaak, Bailey, Ethan, Josh and
She will be missed.
