Ronald Martin Sobottka
Ronald Martin Sobottka died at home Thursday, September 17, 2020 of coronary disease, surrounded by his loving family.
Ronald Martin Sobottka was born March 10, 1923 in Plum City, Wis. Ron was a transplant to Oregon who grew to love it. In World War II he enlisted in the Air Corps, where he shined and was assigned to be a mechanic on the B-17s. He then began a 33 year career at Grant High School teaching high level math and high level physics! He and his wife Patricia Cox were married 40 years until her death in 1991. He then met Pat Hendryx. Ron always said with his great sense of humor,"well, at least I don't have to learn a new name."
He leaves behind, Patricia Hendryx, his domestic partner; her son John, his wife, Lynn and son, Shaun Luke Hendryx; his nephew, George Batho, wife, Veronika, and son, Oskar; his niece, Kathleen Erickson and her husband, Dwaine; his nieces Carol Batho and Lorna Scultz.
Ron donated his remains to OHSU for scientific study and they will be buried in his crypt at Willamette National Cemetery alongside his wife, Patricia Cox.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date with family and friends.
