SUBMITTED PHOTO - Doris 'Wink' DieffenbachDoris "Wink" Dieffenbach, 94, of Ft. Plain, New York, passed away November 4, 2020. Born December 21, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Howard Winkemeier and Thelma Thompson Winkemeier, and the granddaughter of Bertha Felt Thompson and Senator William H. Thompson of Kansas. She was married in 1949 to the late LeRoy S. Dieffenbach until his passing in 2001.

"Wink" as she was known by her friends, derived great joy from raising four children while her husband worked for Hercules Powder Company. His work led to living in Lake Oswego from 1958- 1969. She had great respect and appreciation for nature and loved family trips to Elk Lake and Lake Chelan. An avid swimmer, she was a member of the Lake Oswego synchronized swimming group and taught backstroke to young swimmers.

Wink embodied kindness, compassion and generosity. A giver, she expected nothing in return and did no harm to anyone or anything. She was a lifelong communicant of the Episcopal Church, serving on the altar guild and vestry. She will be remembered for her unique, melodic voice, and enduring positivity, selflessness and faith. Wink held abounding love for her husband, family and cherished friends in Lake Oswego. Her gentle and joyful spirit will live on in the memory of her family who deeply miss her loving presence.

Survivors include her four children: Roy Dieffenbach (Nancy), Tom Dieffenbach (Linda), Lainie Jacksland (Craig), Annie Pflueger (Gary); seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
