James Edwin Flynn
James Edwin Flynn, loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Uncle passed into heaven on December 10, 2020 at his Sandy, OR home. Jim was born on June 15, 1931 to James Melvin Flynn and Janet Johnson Flynn in Tacoma Washington where he grew up. Jim served in the Korean War as a Corporal and was awarded three bronze stars and the United Nations and Korean Service Medals in 1953. Jim retired as a pipefitter and has been a National Automatic Sprinkler Industry Union, local 669 member since 1949. Jim survived being electrocuted by power lines in 1973 from an on the job accident. He shared the experience of his moments on the other side of life with all of us. He enjoyed working on the family log home and
in his early years, Jim was an avid stamp and coin ollector. He enjoyed many years as a member in the Packard Car Club and at one time had eight Packards of his own. We will all miss his smile, humor, wiggling ears and presence in our lives. He is survived by his beautiful bride of 69 years, Marcia of Sandy, OR, daughters, son and son in
laws, Pamela Flynn of Vancouver, WA; Dianne and Jim Jillson of Troutdale, OR; Robin and Larry Cretsinger of Vancouver, WA; Candias Gardner of Sandy, OR; son Shaun of Portland, OR; seven Grandchildren, six Great Grandchildren, and one Nephew. Jim was preceded in death by his Daughter Yvonne, Grandson Shane, Brother John, and Niece Susan. A full military honor memorial service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Happy Valley, OR 97086. All are welcome to attend. Masks are required. Contributions in Jim's name can be made to the American Lung Associaion. Funeral arrangements provided by Neptune Society Cremation Service.
