Bonita 'Bonnie' Louise Peterson
Bonita "Bonnie" Louise Peterson was born on June 12, 1932 to John Philippi & Clara (Weidenbach) Philippi in Pierz, Minnesota, and passed peacefully, surrounded by her family on December 10, 2020 in Gresham, Oregon. At the age of 12, she moved with her family to Portland, Oregon and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She married OSU track star Jack Peterson in 1952 and had four children: John, Tom, Laura, and Cathy. Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper for Wentworth & Irwin and later at Rose City Moving and Storage in Portland. Bonnie was a people-person. She enjoyed playing golf with her family and friends. The Annual BP Open Golf Tournament was held in her honor for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and numerous other activities with her many friends. She will be dearly missed. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Jerine West, and her brother Cleo Philippi. She is survived by her children John Peterson (Kim), Tom Peterson (Diana), Laura Moyer (Phil), and Cathy Wagner (Steve), along with 9 grandchildren ( Zac, Mike, Kevin, Derek, Kelli, Bri, Matt, Justin, and Nick), 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including a nephew she had a special relationship with, Allan Philippi Kastanek. A service for Bonnie will be held at a later time when more of her family and friends can gather together.
