Paul Gilbert Hughes
Paul Gilbert Hughes died peacefully at his Happy Valley home of 53 years on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at age 93. He was born November 6, 1927 in Randolph Nebraska to Clifford and Fern (Snyder) Hughes and graduated from Randolph High School in 1945. After military service in the US Army through 1948, when he was stationed in Korea, Paul attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska where he was a four-year letterman on the Cornhusker gymnastics team. He later completed a Graduate Degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Colorado in 1955 and then moved to Portland Oregon, where he met his wife, Liv, who was a visiting Physical Therapist from Norway. Paul and Liv were married in Oslo, Norway on June 6, 1957 and then settled in the Portland area where they raised two sons. He and Liv owned and operated Gresham Physical Therapy for over 25 years until selling the business and retiring in 1994. Paul was dearly loved by both family and friends and will be sorely missed. He will be remembered for his calm, kind and gentle demeanor, his ability to listen and engage with all, his love of dogs and jazz piano, and the joy he took in the outdoors and tending to his beloved
Happy Valley property. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Liv; sons Erik (Kelly) of Eugene and Scott (Tracy) of Newport Beach, CA: and grandchildren Andrew, Jordan, Hannah, Christopher, and Lauren. He requested no service, and his family will host a celebration of his life at a later date.
