Donna Lorraine (James) Booker
Donna Booker, 64, of Craig, Colorado, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 18th, 2020. She passed away in Grand Junction, Colorado after a long fight with complications of cerebrovascular disease.
Donna was born November 25th, 1955 in Portland, Oregon to Grant and Irene James. She attended Alameda Elementary and graduated from Ulysses Grant High School. Her family attended Northeast Assembly of God Church, where she met Kenneth Burns and married in 1976. Donna first worked in Kaiser Permanente's Imaging department, and then cared for her growing family as a homemaker, while providing childcare service for neighborhood families.
After being widowed in 2001, Donna found new love and married William Booker in 2005, relocating to his Colorado home, where she enjoyed the peace and wildlife of a small mountain town. She was an active member of the Ridgeview Church of God.
Donna enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, knitting, sketching, and playing card games. She was an elaborate storyteller in her younger years. When speaking was a challenge in later years, she delighted in hearing amusing stories from others.
Donna was preceded in death by her first husband Ken and her parents. She is survived by her husband Bill Booker; children Sara (Miguel) Gordillo, Justin (Rachel) Burns, and Amanda (Ken) Sullivan; stepsons Steve (Tammie) Booker and Aaron (Courtney) Booker; six grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; sisters Kathleen (David) Rose and Annette (Malcolm) Johnson, and brother Thomas James.
Covid restrictions have delayed a memorial service. She is dearly missed, and we honor her memory at this anniversary of our loss. Portland service plans are in process for this summer and will be announced at a later time.
