Irma Moen was born in San Salvador, El Salvador to Leonardo Hernandez Ortero and Petronila Romero Castillo.
After graduating from Guadalupano at 16, Irma moved to California, where she attended Notre Dame Girls Academy. Her adventurous spirit motivated her to learn English and build a life in the U.S. After graduation, Irma married Dale Wheeler and had three daughters, Gayle, Christina, and Patricia. Her marriage to Dale ended but it allowed Irma to meet the love of her life, Les Moen. Irma and Les travelled the world. Les encouraged her audacious spirit and they shared a lifetime of adventures together. She loved her children, adored her grandchildren and great granddaughters.
Irma loved bird watching, walks on the beach, $1 McDonalds coffee, and the warmth of the sun. She loved travelling, picnics, boat trips, a nice glass of vino, holidays with family, shopping, Diamond Lake fishing trips, scratch tickets, and going back to El Salvador to visit family. Irma's laugh was unparalleled, her stubbornness was something else, but her smile was unforgettable. She was the epitome of grace and elegance throughout her entire life. Irma had an insatiable appetite for life, which she carried on till her last days.
Irma is survived by family in El Salvador, her daughters Gayle Leonard, Christi Morris (Bill), Patricia Rademacher (Michael), her grandchildren Aaron Leonard, Kristin Fullmer (Patrick), Alex Leonard, Jeff Haeger (Jojo), Kaylee Carrick (Buddy), Joseph Rademacher (Andrea) and her great granddaughters Lily, Samantha, Addyson, Jaidyn, Ariana, Sienna, Kiera, Melody and Emery. Irma was preceded in death by her husband Leslie in 2013, and great granddaughter Savannah in 2010.
