Jack Louis Hanks Jr.
Jack Louis Hanks Jr., long time Lake Oswego resident, died April 27, 2022 at the age of 90. Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. Jack was born April 16, 1932 in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Lake Oswego High School and attended Portland State University. He began his 36-year railroad career as a mail clerk in Portland on the SP&S and held various management positions until his retirement. He proudly served in the Army and Army reserves.
In retirement Jack and his wife Ida Mae became avid birdwatchers and went on many expeditions including Alaska and the Galapagos Islands. They took their grandchildren on several of these trips and built their appreciation for nature. They enjoyed traveling the country in their RV and had many adventures.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jack and Violet (Best) Hanks; and great-grandson Andrew. Survived by his wife Ida Mae (Hankins); son Randall L. (Jane) Hanks; three grandchildren Micheal, Jennifer and Heather; and six great-grandchildren.
A private service will be arranged by Youngs Funeral Home.
