Kenneth Robert Lanter
Ken was born in Selfridge, Sioux County, N.D. to Robert Morgan and Maletta (Walker) Lanter.
He attended Clackamas High School for three years before graduating from Mott High School in 1965. In 1968 he obtained an Associate's Degree from the South Dakota School of Mines.
Ken owned Lanter Brothers, Inc., a heavy construction company that built water, storm and sewer lines and roads (1973-1996). He later was employed by the City of Happy Valley to serve as the Director of Public Works (1996-2001). He retired in 2001 to focus on his grandchildren, hobbies and spending the winter months in Mazatlan, Mexico.
Ken coached little league baseball and youth basketball for many years. He later served as a baseball umpire for many leagues. He restored a number of classic cars, primarily Chevrolet and enjoyed participating in classic car events. He also enjoyed fishing and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Ken is survived by his wife, Gerri; son, Jeff (Michelle); daughter, Lisa (Steve Hoffman); step daughters, Amy (Brian Bennett) and Amber (Garret Bedortha); four brothers, Floyd (Diane), Jerry, Clint (Denise) and Robert (Woody); plus ten grandchildren (Isbella, Cole, Mason, Rilynn, Payton, Zach, Sam, Hunter, Tanner, Norah).
A celebration of Ken's life will be held at the Sunnyside Foursquare Church, 13231 SE Sunnyside Road, Happy Valley, Oregon on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable contributions be made in his name to your charity of choice.
