Lance M. Ogden, 51, of Winlock, WA, died January 30, 2019, of liver failure. He was born March 7, 1967, in Chehalis, WA, the son of Gerald Ogden (deceased) and Carol Ogden Leyton. He attended Winlock Schools and graduated from Eastern WA University.

Lance loved sports and became a sports writer for several newspapers, later becoming sports editor in Joplin, Missouri, Midland, Texas, Pendleton and Grants Pass, OR. While writing for several newspapers, Lance was recognized as a top sports columnist by his peers and received several state-wide awards for his articles. For the last eight years Lance worked at central design desk for the Portland Tribune Community Newspapers of Pamplin Media Group in Milwaukie, OR.

He also enjoyed coaching his girls' softball teams as well as collecting sports paraphernalia. His other love was music, especially live concerts.

Lance is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; and children, Brooklyn Drew and Jacklyn of Milwaukie, OR. He is also survived by his mother Carol Leyton, husband, Gerardo; his sister, Laurie Ogden Eutsler, husband Dan, and children; and his brother Burke Falor, wife Chris and children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bryan Ray Ogden.

A memorial will be held for Lance on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2 p.m., at the Winlock Community Building. Donations may be sent to the Winlock Little League Field.
