Elizabeth 'Theresa' Harvey
Elizabeth "Theresa" Harvey (Birn), 91, of Woodburn, Oregon passed away Friday, April 26, 2019 due to complications of the flu. She was born February 3, 1928 in Gervais, Oregon to Magdalene Dietrich and John Birn, and was baptized at Sacred Heart Church that same year. Theresa later attended Sacred Heart Catholic School. In 1948 she married Clair Harvey, who had served in the U.S. Navy. Over the course of her life, she lived in Gervais, Bend, Salem and Woodburn, Oregon.
Theresa was a mother and homemaker. She worked on a family farm, as well as managing property, and ultimately as a long-term caretaker for her husband during many years of illness. Theresa enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, sewing, crochet, bingo. She was always very involved in her local Catholic Church of Sacred Heart in Gervais, Oregon. Theresa was much loved by her family and was attended at death by her two granddaughters, niece and godson.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie Mayhew of Seattle, Washington and Rachel Rowden of Salem, Oregon; daughter, Charlotte Bacon of Woodburn, Oregon; sister, Millie Plumb of Salem, Oregon and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clair Harvey, who passed away in 1985; son, Dan Harvey; sisters, Katie Lanning, Lorie Rhule, Rosie Jirges, and Mackie Birn; and brother, Johnny Mutter.
A public service is planned beginning with Rosary at 11:30 a.m. Saturday May 11, 2019 at Sacred Heart-St. Louis Church, 605 7th Street, Gervais, Ore., 97026. Funeral mass will begin at noon.
