Carl Edward Staats III
Carl Edward Staats III was born in Ashland, Oregon and grew up in Damascus, Oregon. He was the son of Carl and Rosalie (Gettel) Staats, who preceded him in death.
Carl was drafted into the Army on May 3, 1967 and served until April 16, 1969. He served in Germany after bootcamp and was very proud of his time in the Army. After an honorable discharge, he spent the next 40 years working on the Meadowland Dairy on Powell Blvd. He loved caring for the dairy cows, horses and pigs. Carl was very gentle and loved animals. His favorite memories were of the dairy and the annual fair. His second family at the dairy was Lillian Adams, the Anderegg family, The Yun Family and Susan Cook.
Carl spent the last three years of his life in the Gresham Regency Nursing Home and had tremendous care from the staff there. His family would like to thank everyone there who helped take such good care of him.
Carl was preceded in death by his sister Carol Staats (Kirk). He is survived by his nephews Paul (Julie) Kirk and Darr (Melissa) Kirk. He will be interned at Redland Pioneer Cemetery with his parents and sister.
