Kay Christine (McBride) Seiler
Kay Christine (McBride) Seiler was born December 21, 1949 to Marion and Robert McBride. She passed away on November 26, 2020.
A life-long resident of the Westmoreland, Kay attended Llewellyn Elementary and Cleveland High School (1967) before graduating from Portland State University (1971). Her love of Westmoreland led her to move only eight blocks, so she could raise her family in the same neighborhood.
Kay married the love of her life, Gregg on August 16, 1975 and for nearly 40 years they were each other's best friend. They shared a love of the beach, road trips, pinocle, and any opportunity to enjoy time with friends.
Her passion was teaching, her love was children. For more than 30 years, she taught in the North Clackamas School District teaching at Concord, Oak Grove, and Spring Mountain Elementary Schools. Kay taught a variety of grade levels but teaching first grade was her niche.
An accomplished quilter and a gifted wood carver, while others marveled at her talents, Kay was modest about her skill. Many a friend was thrilled to receive one of her works of art. No baby known to Kay entered this world without one of her wonderful quilts.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Gregg. She is survived by her son Christopher, daughter Erin (Adam), and granddaughter Eleanor Kay. Kay loved and was loved by many people; always with a smile; and always interacted with her whole heart.
The family held a private burial service with plans for a celebration of life next Summer. An educator who fostered a love of reading and sharing the gifts of books with her students, please consider a donation to SMART Reading in Kay's honor.
