USER SUBMITTED - Donald RogersDonald E Rogers, 93, of Oregon City, Oregon passed away due to pre-existing medical issues on May 24, 2021, at Portland Adventist Hospital, Portland, Oregon.

Don was born June 5, 1927 to Clara (Haase) and Edwin Burton Rogers in Cash, South Dakota. He was the second youngest child to a family of 13 brothers and sisters, all who have preceded him in death.

Don was drafted into the Army in 1945. Upon his discharge, he left South Dakota and moved to Toledo, Oregon where his older sister & family lived. In 1948, he married Bonnie Louise Chatfield from Toledo and they would go on to raise a family of 4 while Don made his career working for Georgia Pacific Corporatation.

Don had many hobbies but woodworking remained his passion right up until his death. He was a perfectionist at heart and a stickler for details. Woodworking ticked all of these boxes! We who loved him most were the lucky recipients of this labor or love.

Don & Bonnie moved to Oregon City in 1976 for Dons career. In May of 1979, they lost their youngest son Jeff to an automobile accident. Through their inconsolable grief they were able to find lasting peace through their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Don retired from Georgia Pacific in 1988 but remained active in the logging industry, real estate and development. In 1995 he oversaw the construction of beautiful new home on 20 acres in Oregon City for wife Bonnie. They loved and enjoyed this home together until Bonnies passing in 2009. Don eventually remarried friend & fellow christian Ruth Jacobs in 2010. They shared a love of gardening, cooking and travel. They lived life to the fullest until Don's health began to decline in 2018. He began to slow down considerably but his mind remained healthy and bright.

Don passed away in his hospital bed on the evening of May 24, 2021, daughter Pam close by his side.

After 93 years of a life well live, the Lord called him Home. We will miss him deeply.

Don is survived by his daughter, Pam Cole & spouse Dave; Son, Allen Rogers; daughter, Lauri Meyer & spouse Roy Domke; granddaughters, Aundrea Cummings, Josie Thompson & spouse Todd, Addie Horwath & spouse Dave, Erin Evans & spouse Aaron, Kloee Jo Rogers; grandsons, Clayton Conifer & spouse Ryan, Tyson Cole & spouse MJ, great-grandsons, Kyle Cummings & spouse Andi, Noah Cummings, Austin & Zey Thompson, Trevor & Dillion Horwath, and great-granddaughte,r Brooklyn Evans.
