SUBMITTED PHOTO - Gayle WenzelAfter battling bravely following a severe stroke, Jesus gently carried Gayle to her forever home on December 17, 2021.

Gayle was born July 31, 1943, in Spokane, WA. Soon after, her family moved to Boulder Creek, CA. She graduated in 1960 from Santa Cruz High School. The following year she married Robert Wenzel and moved to Clackamas, OR where she made her home for the remainder of her life.

She loved Christ with her whole heart and His love flowed from her unconditionally to all those around her. Her tender, compassionate heart was expressed through willing hands and a listening ear. Gayle had such a joy for life, she loved singing, having fun and was one of those special, delightful, sweet souls that always had a kind word and beautiful smile.

Gayle's most cherished role in life was being a Mom and Grammie. She is survived by her son, Lloyd (Kim) Wenzel of Dallas, OR; daughter, Elaine (Steve) Powers of Newport, WA;

9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She adored her many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be deeply missed by her lifelong group of girlfriends as well as her more recent friends at Shadowbrook Retirement Park.

Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Allan and Kathryne (Buckley) MacKenzie; step mother, Alberta (Johanson) MacKenzie; brother, Robert MacKenzie and sister, Marilyn Schiappacasse.

A very special Thank you to Dr Richard Mishler, RN Tia, CNA Laura and the 1st floor SNF staff at Laurelhurst Village for the exceptional care and love they gave to Gayle following her stroke.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Sunnyside Community Church (16444 SE Hwy 212, Damascus, OR 97089) on Saturday, January 15th at 1pm.

Gayle has been interred at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, Mt Scott.
