Dixie Lee Smith
Estacada resident, Dixie Smith died at her daughter's home with her family by her side on Sunday, December 10, 2017. She was 81.
A celebration of her life will be held 7 pm Saturday, December 16, 2017 at The Estacada Library Flora Room.
Dixie Lee Miller was born September 18, 1936 in Bedford, Pennsylvania to Robert and Sarah (Taggert) Miller. She was raised in various places in the midwest and settled in Rockford, Illinois. On April 17, 1952 Dixie married Claude Wesley Smith, Sr. in Rockford, Illinois. They had eight children and later divorced in 1980. Dixie had various jobs including cemetery maintenance in Illinois, Hillcrest Animal Hospital also in Illinois. When she moved to Oregon in 1988, she worked as a dye caster for Consolidated Met Co. and retired in 2000.
Dixie enjoyed video poker, flower arranging and being a grandma.
Survivors include her sons, Wesley, Michael, Phillip and David Smith; daughters, Abby (DeWain) Clifford, Nova DeVaux; siblings, Ronald, Archie, Linda, Roger; grandchildren, Samantha, Charity, Phillip, Jr, Shelly, Cynthia, Gabrielle, Shantell, Angela, Nakita, Erin, Michelle, Joseph, Dakota, Dillon; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Ginna, Chase, Jayden, Seth, Zoie, Emma, Lily, Carrisa, Corrine, Cassidy, Brandon, Kaylee, Caleb, Nella, Quinton, Abigaile, Jeanette, Richee, Shyenne and Jacob.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Claude Wesley and Howard Paul Smith; sister, Carol; brother, Junior; and her parents, Robert and Sarah Miller.
Estacada Funeral Chapel is in care of the arrangements.
