A funeral mass will be held at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church, 192 NW 3rd Ave, Estacada, OR at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 5, 2022. Private family inurnment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Joyce M. Buzzard was born July 19, 1929 in Edgemont, South Dakota to William and Theresa Marking. The youngest of 9 children, Joyce's family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1943 where she finished high school. In May, 1948 she married Leon "Buzz" Buzzard, the love of her life. Joyce and Buzz had four children, Tony, Jerry, Chuck, and Julie.

The family moved to a small acreage on Deep Creek Road near Boring, Oregon in 1953 and to the current family home in 1977, residing in the Estacada area for nearly 70 years. In 1963 Joyce, following in her father's footsteps, began a square dance club for youth at the Boring Grange. In 1970 she started an adult square dance club in Mulino, Oregon, The Swing Whos, where she was the caller for nearly 20 years.

After the move closer to Estacada, Joyce began volunteering with the Saint Vincent de Paul Society food bank at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church and continued to serve the needy in Estacada for over 40 years. She became a Pastoral Associate in 1995 and retired from the position around 2015.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Buzz, her four brothers, and four sisters. She is survived by her four children, six grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by the hundreds of people she has touched in her long life of love and service.
