Florence Anna Crop
Florence "Aunt Flossie" to her beloved nieces and nephews was born on July 25, 1921, in Portland, Oregon. She was the youngest of three children born to John and Anna Markee.
Raised in Timber, Oregon she attended Glenwood and Forest Grove High School graduating in 1939. Florence went to work as a telephone operator following high school, an occupation she kept until 1942.
She met her future husband, Alvin Crop, through her sister, Mildred who was dating Alvin's brother at the time. They soon began courting and married on October 10, 1942. They followed Alvin's service to his country in the Army Air Corps which took them to Kentucky, Tennesee and Texas.
When he was discharged, they moved back to Washington County and settled in Verboort in 1952 where they raised four children, Cathy, Harlan, Rick and Bruce. Alvin passed away in 1983 and Florence continued to live in Verboort up until the spring of 2019 when she moved to St. Helens to be closer to her daughter.
Florence was a loving and devoted mother to her children and family. When her children were growing up, she was involved in their school fundraisers and was a longtime volunteer at the Verboort Dinner, first serving at the steam table and then as chair of the candy booth.
Florence was a master baker, great cook, and loved to decorate cakes. She was an avid Blazer and Mariners fan and enjoyed talking sports with her son-in-law Terry.
Traveling with Alvin in their RV was one of her greatest joys. After his death she continued to travel to Europe, Hawaii, and with her cousin to Ashland annually for the Shakespearean Festival.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband; her parents; her son, Rick; and her siblings, Mildred Crop and Arthur Markee.
