Erma J. Heisler
Erma J. Heisler died on March 25, 2021, exactly three weeks after her dear husband of 77 years, Lester, died on March 4 th.
Erma was born on Dec. 10, 1926 in Gales Creek, Oregon, to Joseph W. McRobert and Ethel Irene (Adkins) McRobert. She attended Gales Creek Elementary and graduated from Forest Grove High School in 1943.
During WWII Les enlisted in the US Coast Guard and was stationed in San Francisco. On leave, Les returned home to marry Erma at the Gales Creek Community Church of God on March 7, 1944.
Erma and Les lived in the Gales Creek/Forest Grove area all of their lives. Erma was a secretary at local insurance companies in the area for many years.
The Heislers were quite active in several organizations. They were members of the United Methodist Church, and the American Legion and Auxiliary. Erma was also in the Rebeccas and was a member of the local Red Hat society. The Heislers loved to travel, and spent five months with Les's sister Nancy, in Ketchikan, Alaska.
Erma was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents, Joseph and Ethel McRobert and her siblings, Eldon, Melvin, Bill, Reatha Horn and Ruth Simonton.
She is survived by their son, Ron and her sister-in-law Nancy Barnes and her husband Don.
A private memorial service will be held by the family. A public reception will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Forest Grove Senior & Community Center, 2037 Douglas Street in Forest Grove.
