January 1, 1941 - April 29, 2021. Robert 'Gary' Ritchey, 80, of Forest Grove, died Thursday, April 29 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Robert "Gary" Ritchey, 80, a longtime resident of the Forest Grove community, died early Thursday morning, 12:30 a.m., April 29, 2021 at the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in

Portland, Oregon.

Private Cremation Rites will be held at the Hoyt Crematory in Forest Grove.

Robert "Gary" Ritchey was born January 1, 1941 in Hillsboro, Oregon, son of the late Robert "Curtis" Ritchey and Ruth Lorraine (Schaefer) Ritchey. He was raised and received his education in the Forest Grove Community, having been a graduate of the Forest Grove High School Class of 1959. He attended two years post-education at then OTI in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

Gary was united in marriage to Alice Elaine McIntyre on January 27, 1962 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. They celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary this past January. Following their marriage, they moved to the Forest Grove community where they raised their girls and have resided ever since.

Gary worked in the farming industry on the Ritchey Brothers family farm on Ritchey Road in Forest Grove until 1979 when the farm was sold to Glenn Walters Nursery. Four Generations of brothers and sons farmed over 1,500 acres, raising grass seed, wheat, barley, oats, hops, and sugar beets in later years. He worked for over 20 years as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry for the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 701 in Gladstone, Oregon until he retired.

Gary was a member of the Forest Grove Elks Lodge B.P.OE. No. 2440. Among his special interests Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and being outdoors.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Ruth Ritchey and his daughter, Lori Ritchey Strong in 2017.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Ritchey, of the family home in Forest Grove, Oregon; his two daughters, Traci Moore of Lyons, Oregon and Shelli Dixon of Beaverton, Oregon; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Parris Nelson of Hillsboro, Oregon and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Allen and Nadine McIntyre of Yreka, California.

Also surviving are his five grandchildren, Devin Quinonez of Beaverton, Oregon; Alexis Strong Woodley and her husband, Kyle Woodley, of Mill City, Oregon; Jordan Quinonez of Austin, Texas; Kellie Dixon of Corvallis, Oregon and James Ritchey Moore of Stayton, Oregon; his two great grandchildren, Kya and Evyn Woodley and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that remembrance contributions may be made to the Providence Heart Institute in Portland, Oregon in his memory.
