Alexis Ann Murray
Gresham resident Alexis Ann Murray, 75, died March 1, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. At her request, there was no service.
The only child of Alex and Elna Guenther, Alexis attended Grout grade school and graduated from
Cleveland High School in 1961. In 1965 she graduated from the University of Oregon with a
BA in English and obtained her teaching certification. Alexis moved to Portland and married Michael Murray.
She taught at Lee Middle School and in 1980 transferred to Columbia High School, now Reynolds, where she taught the sophomore honors English curriculum, was a Senior class advisor retiring in 1999. For years after retirement, she enjoyed the weekly companionship of "The Lunch Bunch."
Alexis was a fourth generation Oregonian and proud member of the Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneers. A member of the U of O Alumni Association, she supported the College of Arts and Sciences, OPB, and the Forest Park Conservancy. Alexis' husband Michael preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Alisa (Jeff), son Tim, grandchildren Brittany (Adam), Alex, Nolan, Elijah, Sullivan, and great grandson Conrad. Alexis asked for any donations be made to the Portland Providence Hospice who embraced her and the family during her long battle with cancer.
