Jack Lee Wertman
Jack Wertman, age 78, died on Friday, April 5, 2019, at his home in Fairview. He was surrounded by his family. Jack was born in Missouri and moved to Oregon before he started grade school.
He attended school in Boring (Cottrell Elementary) and Sandy (Sandy Grade School and High School). Most of his life was spent in east Multnomah county and he had deep ties to Sandy, Troutdale, Gresham, and Fairview.
Jack had a long career at PepsiCo and was an active and loyal member of his local union. He became a widower in 2006 after being married for more than 30 years to Judy Armer.
Jack loved motorcycles, car shows, photography, and movies. Like many leading men of his day, he had a great sense of style, with his fedora-style hats and soft leather jackets, always smelling of Ralph Lauren's Polo. He was a class act in other ways as well, particularly in the way he treated other people. Jack will be remembered for his caring, his friendliness, and his genuine interest in people.
He never ceased to be amazed and interested in the world and the people in it. His relationship with his neighbors speaks to his amiable nature: they played violin for him, gave him landscaping advice, and cooked meals for his family during his last days. Jack is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Andy Strand of Boring, Oregon, his sons, Scott Wertman, of Sandy, Oregon, and Jeff Wertman, of Ridgefield, Washington, as well as four
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jack's absence will be deeply and sorely felt by his family,
friends, and neighbors. A private family celebration of his life will be held Saturday, May 4, 2019. Donations in
Jack's honor may be made to Legacy Hospice Services. Please sign the online guest book at https://www.crowncremationburial.com/obituaries/ obituary/17041.
