SUBMITTED PHOTO - Cecelia Marie (Fall) BickleSUBMITTED PHOTO - Cecelia Marie (Fall) BickleCecelia Marie (Fall) Bickle,

after a ten-month battle with

cancer, passed away on June

27th surrounded by Family. She

confronted cancer with grace and

bravery and maintained a happy

upbeat attitude through it all. She

looked at each day as a gift to be

cherished and made the most out of

each day.

Cecelia leaves behind her

husband Roger Bickle, father Roy

Fall Jr., sisters Kathleen Scheelar,

Mary Ann Phelps, brother John (Jack) Fall, daughters

Katherine Elizabeth (Beth) Sheets, Karina Ornelas, son

Brian Bickle, and eight grandchildren and two great

grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother

Catherine Fall and her brother Charles (Chuck) Fall.

Her working years were spent as a Hair Stylist working

out of various shops in east Portland and the airport.

She was a loving compassionate person and a kind

gentle soul that loved children and animals. She abhorred

abuse of any kind especially to them.

In a twist of irony her last six months were some of

the happiest of her life. At the age of 20, while serving in

the Army, Cecelia gave up her daughter for adoption in

order to give her a better life than she felt she could give

her. That baby daughter, Beth, after years of searching

for her birth mother, found Cecelia and they reunited in

January of this year. The emotional reunion was beautiful

to see, with so much love and acceptance. Cecelia also

learned that she had two beautiful adult granddaughters

Katharine and Meghan and two great granddaughters Mia

and Emily. It was nothing short of a miracle that they were

able to be together during the last months of her life.

While Cecelia was still in the hospital on her 70th

birthday Beth posted a heartfelt tribute to her mom on

Facebook. Below are a couple of excerpts from that post:

"It is this lovely woman's 70th birthday today. Who

is she? MY BIRTH MOTHER! Cecelia Bickle, the

woman who gave me life. I finally found my other

mother last year and we made contact about 6 months

ago and I am still marveling at how fortunate I am to

have such a sweet and loving person as a mother!

Here's the best part - she loves me and I love her

right back. She accepted me and wanted to know me,

but to be loved by her - to know it and to feel it - that

is a hoped for, but unexpected blessing. To also know

and feel love for her is just as much a blessing and I

am so thankful.

Mom Cecelia, I am forever grateful to you for this

wonderful life and I love you. Thank you for loving

me then, and even more importantly, for loving me

NOW. HAPPY BIRTHDAY."

Private family services will

be held at Willamette National

Cemetery at a date yet to be

determined.
